My best travel experience
I had the pleasure of meeting a Matai (chief) of a village in Western Samoa during one of my excursions. What was most unusual was, this Matai was female - ( males generally hold this position.) We had much in common and inevitably, I was invited back to her village over a 2/3 day period. This Matai was held in high regard and from the beginning of our planned trip through to its completion, I was looked upon as being rather special, with everyone affiliated with this trip at my beck and call. This was quite over-whelming and although it gave the feeling of belonging to some hierarchy, I was also very humbled by the experience.
My 3 most important things for a perfect trip
Enough Money! Learning to understand the whys and where-fores of other cultures. Meeting people who become not only acquaintances but good friends
How Travel changed my life
Travel - even within your own country gives you an insight and perspective of how other people value many things, from money, humility, faith, love and much much more and it also makes you reflect on your own beliefs and systems that have been instilled into you. I have learnt humility, humor, and a good grasp of lateral thinking. Yes - travel has certainly changed my life.
