After that, we went from fall to fall, our guide helping us to find the best spots and easiest routes. Sometimes the slippery rocks or a shallow pool needed to be handled just right, but he knew EXACTLY how to do this right, even showing us where to jump into the pools.
I think that one...

Each group gets some safety equipment, water shoes, and a guide that knows the falls like the back of his hand. If you have some water shoes of your own, BRING THEM. The ones there are made of cheap plastic and hurt your heels.
Our guide took us on a hike through the jungle, walking...

Just past Imbert we saw a small sign pointing down a dirt road that ran through a sugar cane field declaring "This is 27 Charcos!!!"
We hopped out immediately, and after a half km walk found the kiosk and starting point for the attraction.
While walking, we also found out that...

When we decided to go on the tour, it was for two reasons- first to get rum form THE SOURCE, and second to see it being made. Brugal Rum is delicious. Their Extra Viejo is one of my favorite liquors on Earth, and it’s consistently rated as one of the best rums on earth. Even if you don’t...

I’ve been on a number of different distillery tours in the US, and so when I went to the Brugal Rum factory in Puerto Plata, I expected to see SOMETHING worth while. Well, more like I expected something worth writing home about, like seeing the sugar refining process that makes the molasses,...
