Last March (it was the 9th) in Detroit, the Chicago White Sox looked vastly different from what they are; compared to their performance that usually stays dazzling at worst underwent a paradigm shift that made them seem pathetic, at best. The Chicago boys were struggling this spring.

Let’s take the example of Contrara. His pitch for the four innings didn’t give him even a single strikeout and was getting hit pretty hard, even though he took the responsibility for 5 hits (among which, two were doubles) besides a walk that could have totaled to two earned runs.

On the previous day, i.e. Thursday, the nod went to Gavin Floyd who pitched three innings and gave up 6 runs (out of which, only two were earned) along with five hits and a walk. This proved that the White Sox’s offensive team is lagging far behind and is not doing a good job; however, exceptions are always there and in this case, it was Juan Uribe and Crede. But Jon Garland exceeded the expectations; pitching 3 innings and getting all the four runs on behalf of the White Sox is surely a lot of achievement – that translated is eight remarkable hits comprising three doubles, one triple and two home runs. We wished for another triple; that would have been two pitching cycles in three innings flat!

But the story remains that the White Sox were losers during the entire week and the regular players are to be blamed for that. It seems the once-powerful offensive side has been rendered just to an average team now; well, we may blame the cold that stiffened the Chicago boys but what to fall on if this continues when the warm summer sun shall be shining bright? Wrong stars, perhaps.

Whatever the case, I strongly recommend one going to watch a baseball match to get a flavor of the American Sport...its pretty amazing!!
