A very interesting and I think, unique thing in Romania is the stairway of Sighisoara. The stairway is completely covered. It looks like a tunnel, but the whole construction is made out of wood. The stairway takes you to the church that lays on the hill. Apparently the stairway was built especially for the children that went to school in winter. The weather is very cold in that part of the country and it gets very slippery in the mountainous areas. There used to be 300 steps, but many of them were damaged. Now there still are 175. I climbed it, but I found it a bit risky at first. Nothing happened, but take care and watch your step.
