Located on a small island in the middle of Hoan Kiem Lake, Ngoc Son Temple was built during the 19th century. One of the brightest stars of Vietnam’s literature and intellectual circles, Van Xuong, was worshipped there. Vietnamese national hero, Tran Hung Dao was also worshipped there after he lad the Vietnamese people to victory over both Mongolian and Chinese invaders. On the way to this temple are several cau doi, parallels, hung on the wall. This temple is very famous to locals as well as to tourists for its beauty. Standing on an island in the middle of the most beautiful lake in the centre of Hanoi, the temple has a great view out to the lake and this beautiful ancient city.
