The San Francisco skyline is quite a sight when coming north on I-280, as its lights creep over the edge of the horizon before it comes fully into view.
The loveliness didn't end at the skyline, once I arrived at the Embarcadero Center in San Francisco. It's the holidays, and many of the buildings are decked with lights, making a walk in the neighborhood a very pleasant affair.
It's a more upscale neighborhood, and PacBell park with all of its surrounding entertainment is just down the road. The Embarcadero Center itself has all the popular stores and coffee shops, plus a movie theater, and there are many types of cuisine to choose from in the area. During the winter, there is even an outdoor ice skating rink complete with swinging Christmas music to skate to.
Walking around the area during the holidays is a little chilly because of the wind that kicks up off the bay, but it's a nice way to spend the evening after some dinner, shopping, or before a movie.
