We went to Zagreb on our way south from Slovenia and decided to check it out for a couple of days. We didn´t rate the city much (might have been due to heavy rain and very unwelcoming temperatures - that sort of weather doesn´t really become any city), but we did have quite nice accomodation. We stayed at the Fulir Hostel, which is as central as can be, about 100m off the main square. This is a typical backpacker place, the owners, two young Croatian guys, have plenty of tips for your night out and aren´t opposed to consuming a bottle of vodka or two with their guests. If you like it lively and social, you´ll enjoy your stay here. The rooms are nice and the bathrooms cleaned daily, there´s free internet and lockers in each room.
