Just south of Reutlingen is a little town called Lichtenstein. No this isn’t the independent nation and I don’t think the town has anything to do with that. In any case there is one site that is worth seeing. Right on the Schwabian Alb is a castle overlooking the city town of Lichtenstein. The greatest thing about this area is that the castles are high up on the Albs. This provided one of the best forms of protection at the time these castles were built, but today they can be admired for their wonderful views.

The Castle Lichtenstein looks like it could be from a fairy tale. It overlooks the small town of Lichtenstein. This castle is over course overshadowed by the “Snow White Castle” even farther south, but this Castle should not be overlooked. It is open to visitors and can be visited all throughout the day. To get here you can go either by foot or by car.

One interesting that I learned on my visit is that the tower of the castle is actually rather new. It is only around a hundred years old. Actually a castle has stood on the same spot here for hundreds of years; this is actually the third attempt. The last two castles that were on this spot were destroyed.
