Bouhans, in the scenic area of Bresse, is host once a year to the “Foire de la Balme”, a large agricultural fair that attracts food and bric-a-brac stalls as well as a fun-fair. It’s a noisy, bustling day out with the opportunity to watch livestock and agricultural machinery sales. It occurs every year on the last weekend in August and is usually very busy throughout attracting mainly a local crowd.

Free car parks are ten minutes walk from the main attractions with paying ones closer.

One of the specialities of the fair is large slices of bread covered in a strong aromatic cheese and grilled, called “fromage fort”.
