Another one of the sights in Zagreb you simply cannot miss. Kula Lotrscak (or the Lotrscak tower) is a part of what used to be Gradec (upper part of the town) fortification system. Lotrscak dates back to the 13th century and has walls that are 195 centimeters thick, which is a common width for the buildings in the old part of the town. And if you find yourself sightseeing brace yourself because at noon, the canon will shoot from Lotrscak tower. To the modern day Zagreb it represents that its noon and to set their watches by it, however this tradition is some hundred years old and supposedly in the beginning it symbolized the Croatian's victory over Turks. Lotrscak tower was used for many things, at one point there was a coffee house there and was even lived in, however it has been restored in 1981. and since then it has been open to public. You can find Lotrscak tower at the top of the funicular or if you are feeling brave take Radiceva street and then turn to the first small alley on the left. There are steps there that will take you straight to the Lotrscak tower. The view of Zagreb from the funicular is great, but if you climb the Lotrscak tower the view is even better.
