Travel Tip: The Queenstown Story

5 stars
Published on Jan 29, 2008 by cosmoclaudio for An Cóbh

While in Cork I took my friends advise and went to spend some time in Cobh, a small seaside town just outside Cork. It was formerly called Queenstown and if you wish to learn the fascinating history of the town and its people you shall go nowhere else than… to The Queenstown Story, a first-rate museum down on the quayside. The exhibits are telling the story of the Queens visit, the Famine emigrants to the “New World” or the horrible shipping disasters like those of Titanic and Lusitania. For those who don’t know it, Cobh was the last calling port for the Titanic but also the shelter for those who rescued from Lusitania’s shipwreck.
