Travel Tip: Dunguaire Castle

5 stars
Published on Jan 29, 2008 by cosmoclaudio for Dunguaire Castle

To see the Dunguaire Castle you have to take a ride on the shores of Galway Bay, a little town near the sea. Also, you can visit it either in the day light or lately at night to enjoy a medieval banquet entertaining with medieval décor and modern food. The banquet is held every night in April – October. Reservations are necessary. The castle was built in the late 1500’s and is now completely restored. It was conceived as a tower house built for protective purposes by the Martyns of Galway who owned it between the 17th and the 20th century.
