Travel Tip: The BurrenTo

4 stars
Published on Jan 29, 2008 by cosmoclaudio for The Burren

To visit the Burren one must go to the south of Galway to reach the Arran Islands. The Burren is made up of volcanic stones which during the last thousands of years corroded in a very spectacular way. I needed 3 or 4 hours to see everything; plenty of wildflowers growing between the rocks, caves and ancient graves called Dolmens. The sound of my steps over the stones made a special effect, it sounded like big caves were under my feet. I recommend you should skip the Ailwee cave which is more like a tourist-trap than a “Must See”. Also you probably won’t find an appropriate place for parking your car.
