I did it, climbing the Croagh Patrick on a hot day in July, I mean. This is one of the highest mountains in Ireland and the spot where St Patrick expelled the snakes, says the legend. For this reason every last day on July many people climb this 765m mountain and some of them do it barefoot! A local told me that in the not so far off past this pilgrimage was being done during the night, people carrying flashlights or lanterns. Now the ritual is kept during the daylight for safety reasons. Get prepared for the hardest climb, at one point I couldn’t feel my legs any more, but in the end the views made it all worth the trouble.
