Summer Lodge Country House Hotel & Spa in the village of Evershot, in Dorset County, England is a grand place. Prices are somewhat steep, but the service is impeccable throughout the hotel, from reception to restaurant. There is a turn-down service every night. Plush bathrobes are laid out on the beds. Tea, cream, fresh fruit and delicious biscotti were delivered daily while we were out. The telephone even had a “whatever, whenever” button. I never pressed it because I lacked absolutely nothing. The view from our room was out over a field. It was quite lovely. Other rooms have views of the vast gardens. All the rooms (24) have individually appointed décor and are equipped with internet access, a plasma screen TV and DVD and air-conditioning. This is a very quiet place. It may not be to some people's taste. It is perhaps best suited for either a little rest and relaxation or as a retreat for a romantic interlude. It's a good place to stay to enjoy the surrounding countryside such as at Melbury Estate or Sherbourne Abbey.
