Published on Jan 31, 2008 by Elizaoprisor for Pulkovo

The Pulkovo Astronomical Observatory is the main astronomical observatory in Russia. It is also a museum and it is part of the Russian Academy of Sciences and a World Heritage Site. The observatory is equipped with a refractor, which seems to be the biggest in the world. It has about 40 cm. The job at the Pulkovo is to have your head in the clouds and watch the stars, detect double stars and so on. The Observatory’s activities have also been connected to the study of territory. This Astronomical Observatory can as well help navigation. The best season for taking pictures o the Pulkovo is in winter.
