| The Cathedral of St. Sophia in Novgorod is church of the Archbishop of Novgorod. It is a combination of the Byzantine pattern and Romanesque architecture. The walls are a bit austere and the windows seem so small. First you may have to get used to how white it is. The Novgorod cathedral is also different from The Cathedral of St. Sophia in Kiev. There is a warrior and bride symbolism attached to them. Whilst the first is a warrior, the latter is considered to be the bride. Its decoration is minimal, just as a man-at-arms, ready for everyting. |
