Travel Tip: Rumah Roda Homestay, another home ...

4 stars
Published on Jan 31, 2008 by Ikacherie for Ubud

Last year was the latest time I visited Bali. Usually Bali was always Kuta, Sanur, Seminyak ... but that time, with my husband, we decided to visit Ubud for it's traditional dances, wood crafting and of course the paddy fields (and volcanoes-- especially Mount Agung and Kintamani!).

I found Rumah Roda Homestay by internet, and it was really a home like they described. Located on Jl. Kajeng, the homestay that has been running by a native Bali family for many-many years (more than 10 years) gave us warm-lovely experience. Our room was simple and neat with half out-door bath-room. You can see the see while taking shower which he first night of our arrival was holly beauty starry!!! With only US$ 9/night incl. light breakfast (banana crep was my favorite) you'll have comfort and hospitality. They also provide a restaurant with home cooking menu of Indonesia, local balinese and western in affordable price ... average US$2/portion. And when we got back to Jakarta before continue the trip to home in Canada, I sent e-mail to Tutut their daughter to continue our friendship that we just started during our visit. She said next time we'll visit Ubud again, they will pick-up at the airport. You too can do that ... just e-mail or call them and give US$ 15 for air-port pick up to avoiding confusing bargain for taxi that certainly will cost you more.

We plan to be there again. Perhaps next year.
