One of the entertainment attractions that I enjoyed during my stay in Zurich City was theZurich Opera House. Having opened its doors in 1891. With a sitting capacity of 1100 people and commanding a rich historical legacy, the Zurich Opera House is a famous entertainment worldwide entertainment spot. Locals have always been surprised by high levels of enquiries about the Zurich Opera House from foreign tourists. With the building having undergone numerous successive renovations the years, over, the Opera house has successfully transformed into a modern entertainment facility while successfully maintaining its 19th Century architecture and rich cultural attributes. The main highlights at the Zurich Opera House are the Zurich Opera House Orchestra and Zurich Opera House Choir. The Zurich Opera House Orchestra has been in existence since 1985. The Orchestra has a very busy schedule and performs as many as 250 shows per season. I learned that the Zurich Opera House Orchestra works closely with many famous conductors such as, Nikolaous Harnoncourt, Heinz Holliger, Vladimir Fedoseyev, Christoph von Dohnanyi Nello Santi, Ralf Weikert and Franz Welser-Möst. I was further informed that many more conductors make guest appearances. The chief conductor of the Zurich Opera House Orchestra is Franz Welser-Most, who has been at the helm since the 1995/96 season. The Orchestra also holds international performances in various cities worldwide. The Zurich Opera House consists of 60 members who stage approximately 200 performances per year. The Zurich Opera House also boasts a world-wide renowned training academy for professions in the artistic fields. The Orchestra Academy and Junior Ballet are in a class of their own as training institution for Opera artists. The Orchestra Academy was founded in 1997. I would recommend this particular attraction to anyone visiting Zurich. Tags for this Travel Tip: adventure fun entertainment attractions |
