Newark Airport is one of the New York City airports with flights from and to many of the major cities in America and around the world. There are a number of different worldwide airlines that use Newark, so you can get nearly anywhere from there. It is not actually in New York City, but in Newark, New Jersey. It takes about 15 to 20 minutes on a train from the airport to arrive at New York Penn Station. There are three main terminals at Newark Airport. They have the standard short-term and long-term parking areas. You can also get there by train. A number of trains on different lines arrive in and depart from Newark. Traditionally, Newark is plagued with delays. Arrive super early for time to get through security. It doesn’t seem to matter what the day or time is, there is always a very long line at security. Make sure that you are at the right terminal or you may have to go through security again if you have to go to a different terminal. If flying during rush hour, you may have a wait on the tarmac. Bring a snack in your carry-on and buy a water after you pass security just in case you are in for a long wait. Weather, particularly during winter, can also cause problems at Newark, so call ahead and check on your flight. Whatever you do, make sure that you have official photo ID to board a plane. I have had nothing but problems with Newark Airport. I now will go to JFK first. It is much bigger, but the parking is easier, the workers friendlier, and just a better overall experience.
