Travel Tip: Vaalserberg aka Dreilaenderecke, three in one

4 stars
Published on Feb 4, 2008 by Christina Hann-Trefzger for Vaals

Dreilaenderecke in German means three-country point or tripoint, and this one is connected between Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands. In Germany, it is very close to Aachen (Nordrhein Westfallen), Limburg (Belgium) and Vaals, Limburg (the Netherlands).

It is also known as Vaalserberg (Vaals Mount) and it is the highest part of the Netherlands. It is called Drielandenpunt ("Three-Country Point") in Dutch, or Dreiländereck ("Three-Country Corner") in German, or Trois Frontières ("Three Borders") in French.

If you want to visit the tower, you should go there before 5 pm, cos it’s closed after 5 pm. The other side of the tower, there is a labyrinth and very suitable for kids.
To get in the tower and the labyrinth, you need to pay. I never made it to the tower, so I don’t know how much it is, but I don’t think it’s very expensive.
There is a vendor, selling food, he makes the best french fries. Can you imagine thick, fat and crunchy fries? Also not very expensive!
I think Vaalserberg is very suit for family and friends.
