I found this trattoria to be one of Florence's secrets. Only Florentines have the pleasure of knowing this corner of the city very well, until now. Quattro Leoni is not located in a large tourist square, it is not even shown on a map. Piazza della passera is at an intersection of via dello sprone, via de' Vellutini, via de' Sapiti and via Toscanella where many years ago a brothel existed where the trattoria is now. This trattoria has an authentic menu, with seasonal favorites and original dishes you won't find anywhere else. It is a tiny Piazza which the Trattoria takes up most of the area with it's outside cafe. On a grand spring day, it is a delight to savor the flavors of an authentic Florentine tradition at a table watching the city float by. The Menu consists of traditional antipasti of bruschetta al pomodoro and Antipasto toscano: affettati e crostino di fegato. My new favorite pasta dishes containing, fiocchetti di pere con salsa di taleggio e asparagi and crespelle alla fiorentina. If you want to know what these are like, you must go there and experience these delicious dishes yourself. The staff is so kind and accept reservations in the busy season as well. I have never had a bad experience eating there. I enjoyed every minute there. Another perk is that many celebrities go to this corner of world to eat in peace instead of going to the crowded squares. The proof is all over the walls of pictures of the famous faces like Anthony Hopkins, Dustin Hoffman, and my favorite Sting. This place has been a secret for a long time, take advantage of this post and spread the word around.
