Rheingold is a very nice restaurant right at the Rhein river. Once we’ve noticed it on our way along the promenade in summer and decided to stop for an evening drink. The restaurant itself is on the second floor above the bar. They have a very nice trendy atmosphere there. Unfortunately inside there were no places, but the hostess kindly offered us a place at the balcony. She brought small leather chairs and served all the drinks there. The balcony is facing the river and it was so romantic to watch the sunset. The outside area is lighted with huge fire-candles. Drinks were great as well. Kind of pricey though…But my cassis-champagne cocktail was amazing! Next time we have been there for dinner. I would recommend reserving the table at least a day in advance, as we did, because it is a very popular place. Service was quite good and food was delicious. Even though the menu offers a limited choice (not so many dishes), we have managed to find something satisfying for both of us (and I am very demanding with food, I don’t eat a lot of products, especially from German cuisine). There is also a bar downstairs with a DJ, where the guests of the restaurant can smoke. Smoking is also allowed at the balcony (in summer it is always opened).
