Last year I went to visit my friend in Nijmegen. For me the traffic signs in the Netherlands are a little different from Germany, for example the road names or street names on the board are only 1 side, so if you drive from the other side, you can’t read it. It took me almost an hour to search the road, in fact we were driving around the same places.
Nijmegen is really nice at night with the view and the lights on the highway. I find the way how the Dutch’s roundabout is a little confusing, so I took us almost 15 minutes just to decide to go to the main station, because there is no specific sign. After we picked my friend, we drove around the city. I was really amazed by the beauty of the city at night.
Nijmegen is not a very big city, but there is something that makes it so unique, like the Waalbridge, and the buildings. Most of the churches are made of bricks and with crimson color. Nijmegen is a student town, and they are from every where. I met some people from Mexico, Indonesia, Venezuela, China, Korea, Brazil and so on. So, when you go to the shop / supermarket, don’t be amazed if you can get some other Asian food. In general Nijmegen is the warmest area in the Netherlands, so you don’t really need to wear a lot of clothes in winter.
