Travel Tip: The sloths's way of life

5 stars
Published on Feb 9, 2008 by anja78 for Manuel Antonio

The small (but popular - get there early to try to aviod the crowds!) National Park Manuel Antonia is located south of Quepos and offers a variety of wildlife some beautiful beaches and you can easily spend a day exploring on the park's walking tracks. Apart from monkeys (howler monkey are often heard but rarely seen) and birds I was most amazed by the sloths. One of them was hanging upside down in a tree not in the least bothered by the crowd of humans below taking pictures. The animal was completely covered in moss and it appeared truly content looking like it hadn't left the spot in years.
