I have yet to talk to someone who has been here who does not readily tell you that if you go to Hawaii, this is the one place you must see. There is a wealth of information on Pearl Harbour and its role in WWII at this national park. Upon entering, you are given a ticket with a group number. Your group number tells you what time your group will be allowed into the theater and onto the Arizona Memorial. While waiting your turn to visit the memorial, you can browse the bookstore and the grounds. When your group is called, you enter the theater to watch a documentary with footage from the day Pearl Harbour was bombed. After the documentary, you board a boat that goes out to the Arizona Memorial, which has been declared a national cemetery as it still houses the remains of over 1,000 crew members that were lost when the ship sank. Because it is a national cemetery, visitors are asked to remain quiet while on the memorial. Even with the large groups passing as they board and disembark from the memorial, it is respectfully quiet. I was deeply impressed by the whole experience.
