Travel Tip: Mdina

5 stars
Published on Feb 29, 2008 by Vihren for Mdina

Mdina is the best preserved medieval city I have ever seen. Nothing has changed in this city for the last 500 years. It is also the smallest city I have ever seen with only around 250 inhabitants. It is easy to walk all the streets in the town, it is also a wonderful experience to see all these small cobblestone streets with small chapels and squares the size of a handkerchief. The city center is the cathedral square with the marvelous baroque cathedral and the palace of the archbishops. At the end of the central street there is a wonderful viewpoint offering the perfect view towards central Malta and beyond. I read somewhere that it is possible to see even Etna just to the left of Mosta Dome (which can't be missed), but personally I couldn't see it.
