Village Cinema is a chain found throughout most parts of Melbourne and surrounding towns. There is one located at the Westfield Shopping Town (a.k.a. Southland Mall), which may be found at 1239 Nepean Highway in Cheltenham. If you have the street directory Melways, it is Map 77, H11. The Village Cinema there is quite large with sixteen screens and special features like three Gold Class cinemas, four Cinema Europa theaters, and two auditoriums. You can call 1-300-555-400 or visit http://www.villagecinemas.com.au/ for session times and bookings. I liked the Europa theaters as they are smaller than the regular theaters, hence cozier, and provide guests with good views no matter where you are sitting. When going to theaters in Victoria and maybe elsewhere in Australia, it is tradition to get a particular snack called a “Choc Top.” A Choc Top is an ice cream cone dipped in chocolate. The one at Village Cinema was quite good and discounted (A$3.00) when you order a popcorn and soda combo (A$10.00 ). If you will be in Victoria for a while, I recommend getting a free membership card to Village Cinema so you can receive member discounts. Last weekend, my partner and I were able to go to the movies for A$20.00 as part of a members special promotion week. For some films, I recommend buying your tickets online and securing your seats in advance so as to make sure you get to see the film you want to see as well as avoid potentially long lines. The theater is disability-friendly by the way with its lifts, ramps, and accessible parking and toilet facilities. Parking can be troublesome at Southland Mall in general. Be patient and be prepared to weave around the mall to get to the theater if you happen to park far away.
