If you are feeling energetic, I recommend taking the long, but nice walk from the central area to the Monasterio de la Gran Cartuja. If you do this, you may want to take something to drink with you. The days can get quite warm here, and there is not much shade along the way. If you are not up for the 20 minute or so walk, I advise taking the bus, a much faster method.

The church inside the monastery itself is quite impressive. It is done in baroque architecture and is quite beautiful. The elaborate decoration behind the altar reminded me a bit of the Iglesia de Santo Domingo in Oaxaca, Mexico, which is probably the only other church I have visited thus far that is so breathtaking. Even the niches behind the altar were reminiscent of Santo Domingo. The church here, however, had a distinctly European feel. The pictures painted on the walls as well as the painting in the cupola are also very beautiful. This site is well worth the visit.
