There are different sizes of airboats at Loughman Lake Lodge. There is one they use for crowds from nearby Port Canaveral cruise ship excursions. However, we were on a smaller airboat which was fine with me. The boats can go up to about 30 miles per hour. That’s not fast in a car, but on the water it seems plenty fast. The airboat blasts through the shallow waterways and across cattail bushes that grow along the banks. We got to see areas that we normally wouldn’t see from the road. Alligators lying along the banks would ease into the water as we approached. Turtles would surface every once in awhile. We saw an old campsite for Indians that used to hunt in the area. The only thing that I didn’t like was that I had a wasp fly down my shirt. Not a fun thing to have happen. I would recommend wearing shirts with long sleeves on the airboat. Also, sunscreen and some kind of glasses to provide eye protection would be good. Call 321-268-2277.
