Snøhetta is the largest mountain in Norway outside of the Jotunheimen National Park .The mountain stands at 2286m.
The mountain can be easily reached by car with a short hike to get to the mountain itself. The hike up and down takes about 5 hours but if you have children with you I would make sure I had enough time. The mountain is an easy climb and there is no need for mountaineering skills :) If you are looking for a place to stay I would recommend the DNT cabins located around the mountain on three different sides: Reinheim, Snøheim and Åmotdalshytta. Check out www.turistforeningen.no for more information about these cabins.
The view from top is excellent since the mountain is more or less free standing and you can see a long way on a sunny summer day. If you want to climb the top during wintertime this is also no problem but make sure you have the right gear.
