Rarotonga was a complete change from my usual environment and I loved every minute there. The island was not inundated with tourists and had very authentic atmosphere. Life was unhurried, mobile phones did not work. There was one main road around the island, with not much traffic, so it was easy and safe to get around by bike. People were very friendly with relaxed attitude. I enjoyed the beach, was lucky to be invited to lunch by a local friend of a friend of mine and visited the markets, where I got some black pearl jewelry, the most popular souvenir from the Cook Islands.
