Outeiro is a Portuguese little village located in the NE border of Portugal and Spain. Therefore has a ruined castle of course – destroyed in some battle with Spain, that stays less than 10 Km away.

Outeiro used to be called Vila de Outeiros, belonging to the Portuguese Braganças Royal House. Its name comes from having an original XIII century castle located in the highest hill in the region.

The main church is a Portuguese national monument – a mix of gothic with some traces of Manueline (late Portuguese Gothic). Remarkable also is the XIII century old church of Bairro da Igreja – that was constructed by order of Queen Santa Isabel.
