During my extensive tour of Namibia, I had the opportunity to visit the famous Fish River Canyon which is situated along the lower reaches of the Fish River. I was really amazed by the impressive natural beauty that marks this great Canyon. Our tour guide informed us that the Fish River canyon is estimated to have formed millions of year ago during the pluvial times. The tour guide also informed us that at a depth of 550 meters, the Fish River Canyon is the second largest in the world, only coming second to the Grand Canyon in America. I also learnt that the enormous Canyon in Ai-Ais is the terminal point of the giant gorge that stretches for 160 kilometers all the way from Koubis Massif. The Canyon is surrounded by breathtaking views of desert landscape.
