The Winter Park Scenic Boat tour has been around since 1938. It is a one-hour pontoon boat tour though several lakes connected by canals in Winter Park, an upscale city just north of Orlando. It's fun to check out the back yards of some of the big houses on the lake. Along the way you also get to see natural plants, birds and flowers. On a hot summer day, getting to sit on the covered boat and have a guide tell you about what you are seeing is a pleasant diversion. And the best part is it's cheap... the last time I went it cost $10 for adults, $5 for kids. Even on a hot summer day there is usually a pleasant breeze out on the lakes.
