Is there any city in the world without an Irish pub? If there is, I've yet to find it. I arrived in Santa Cruz with my boyfriend and our (Irish) travelling companion, and naturally he wanted to check out this place to keep homesickness at bay for a while. The bar sits above the city's main plaza, and looked like a reasonable place to get a quick drink, especially as it was a warm night and the bar had a large balcony. However, when we clocked the prices we quickly turned on our heels - the self same bottle of wine that I had enjoyed the previous night in a restaurant for 18 Bolivianos was being sold at 35 Bolivianos, and a glass of beer was about 10 Bolivianos. Even our Irish friend decided he didn't miss his home country that much! |
