Travel Tip: Hostels in Bolivia

3 stars
Published on Jul 2, 2008 by LucyHB for Bolivia

Hostels are frequently considered to be the cheapest option for backpackers, but in Bolivia it's very often not the case. Particularly if you're traveling as a couple, basic hotel rooms often work out a good deal cheaper. However, when I say basic, I mean very basic. Hot water is often not part of the deal, and don't even think about breakfast being included in the price. Hostels, on the other hand, generally have cooking facilities. decent Internet access, and of course the opportunity to meet other travellers. They might not be the cheapest option, but they're generally more pleasant and can work out cheaply in the long run as you will be able to save money by preparing your own food. Hot water and breakfast are still unlikely prospects however!
