4 stars
Published on Jul 23, 2008 by abiboo for Jamaica

Many persons know about Bob Marley and What he contributed to Reggae music but there are many others who have impacted the industry and I would like to take the time to acknowledge these persons. There are persons such as Beres Hammond, Dennis Brown, Sizzla, Anthony B among others who have brought Reggae to the international stage.
There is a difference between Reggae and Dancehall. Dancehall artists include Elephant Man, Beenie Man, Bounty Killer and Macka Diamond. Dancehall like Reggae originated out of the garrison communities, as many of the songs have to do with social oppression and the struggles of life. Reggae has a slower beat that Dancehall which is fast and often has a dance move associated with the song. What are your views on either dancehall or reggae? Do you listen to them?
