A lot of people I come across as a tour guide down to Neuschwanstein say to me "oh, but we wanted to see a REAL castle"... Well, Burg Prunn is a real medieval castle if there ever was one. In general, real castles are mostly fortification and location, not much as far as things to look at as most of the "original" furniture would be long gone. Burg Prunn dates back to at least 1037, making it one of the oldest castles that are intact in the region, and with its location on a hill with a gorgeous view, I highly recommend it. It's located south west of Regensburg and can easily be done as a day trip from Munich. The only problem is, you will probably need to go there by car. |
