Travel Tip: The Refreshing Wilderness of Mndilansadzu Forest Reserve

3 stars
Published on Aug 6, 2008 by pingati007 for Mndilansadzu

I had a brief encounter at Mndilansadzu Forest Reserve because it was designated as a stop over point for our tour itinerary. The thick and densely forested reserve is tightly guarded and exhibited minimal tourist activities. We learnt from one of the guards that the forest reserve was particularly established to protect the unique indigenous vegetation from encroachment by human settlement activities. Guided trips into the interior of the forest reserve are allowed only during the dry season because most sections of the forest are usually flooded during the rainy season. The forest also provides habitat to wide varieties of birds, monkeys, snakes and baboons.
