I visited La Cumbrecita because I’ve heard so many people talking about its incredible appeal over the years. I was not disappointed: it is an excellent destination to relax and to enjoy nature. Visitors are mostly couples and families from Argentina, but there are international travelers as well.
I visited in September, when the winter was almost over, and one of the activities at this time was horseback riding. I took a ride with a local guide and a few people and it was an excellent way to appreciate the landscapes from the top of the hills. I am not an experienced horse rider, but you do not need to be for this kind of horses fortunately. The hills here are not part of the Andes chain, so they are not tall and therefore they are very convenient for hiking or horse riding. We passed a couple of streams, and reached a small waterfall where we had a break before returning through another road. The nice part of this tour was that most of the time you are not following a marked path, so you feel completely into the wild with horseback riding the slopes of these hills.
