Though Jamaica produces one of the best brands of coffee in the world (Blue Mountain Peak), going out for coffee is not a grand event as it is in Paris or even the United States. Until now that is. Susie's Bakery & Coffee Bar is Kingston's ritzy and upscale version of a Starbucks. Susie’s serves a variety of freshly baked breads, pastries, sandwiches, hot and cold beverages, which obviously includes Jamaica's own Blue Mountain Coffee. It's the perfect spot for a midmorning rendezvous, long lunches or an afternoon coffee or tea. They have recently extended their menu to include various wraps and a few Middle Eastern specialities such as Chicken and Beef Kebbeh, Mahshis and Hummus. There is also a soup and salad bar which includes some pasta dishes. Susie's Bakery and Coffee Bar has brought a little European Flair and a touch of the Middle East to Kingston while managing to still keep its Jamaican flavour. With wireless internet, light background music in an enchanting indoor and outdoor dining environment, it’s definitely having an impact on the coffee culture in Jamaica. The wonderful service complements the high quality of the meals served. On an average day you may even meet the charming owner herself at the cashier's counter or greeting her customers. If you enjoy dining at a good Café then Susie’s Bakery and Coffee Bar is an excellent place to dine. Tags for this Travel Tip: coffee cafe bakery middleeast pastries breads |
