La Casera, the best cheese shop ever in Lago Maggiore

How much do you love cheese? You are drooling only when you hear it or you can’t live without it? If you spend your vacation in Italy, especially in Lago Maggiore, you can’t miss this spot. La Casera is a small cheese shop owned by one family. They offer many kinds of cheese, fresh and self made cheese appetizer, salami, smoked meat, and wine. Mention any kinds of cheese that you know, they have them!
But don’t expect too much, because the size of the shop is really small and you might have to line up on the holidays. I am not a big lining-up fan who like to gather with the whole bunches of people, so it’s not sinful if you walk around that area and come back later for the cheese and salami.
I like La Casera so much, because they always let you try what they just made and they are not stingy. They will cut huge pieces of cheese and give them to you. Sometimes, not only cheese, but you can try salami and wine as well. As long as they have new kinds of cheese or salami or wine, they will always make you try. The prices of the cheese, salami, wine and appetizer are not really expensive. Last time after having shopped all the food for breakfast and dinner we needed, they gave us salami and wine as gifts.

Chi=Ginn

Chi is equal Ghinn? Not really. Chi = Ghinn is a name of a great restaurant in Lago Maggiore, Italian part. Chi = Ghinn is one of the high class restaurants along the lake at Lago Maggiore. It’s not easy to find the restaurant if you are not locals. It is located at a village called B. Chi = Ghinn is a really small cozy restaurant. They only have 2 waiters, so you can imagine how small it is. They use the upper part of the building as a hotel. So, you can stay overnight and enjoy the night view of Lago Maggiore. I personally really like the atmosphere at Chi = Ghinn.
You can get the menu in German and Italian, but not in English. The special menu contains / starts from 3 til 4 kinds of starters, soup, entry, and 2 kinds of afters. I had artichoke salad with ham, rucola, and parmesan on top. It was really awesome. Second salad was smashed creamy cauli flower with sauce. Black bean soup tasted weird to me, but it’s worth a try. Gnocchi with shreded parmesan with black beans and rosemary on top is also not bad. I prefer the steak with asparagus sauce better than fish balls and shrimps in pea soup. Crème buele and Italian ice cream are great choices for desserts. All these dishes come with prosecco (italian kind of champagne), white wine and red wine. This special menu dishes cost at least 75 Euro. But don’t compare the price with what you will have.
