Hotel Montalembert, a True Boutique Hotel
The Hotel Montalembert is truly a “boutique” hotel. Located in Paris’ 9th district, it is not very close to the cities main attractions but it was also nicely situated near a subway. I was able to walk to the waterfront in about 30 minutes and to the Louve in another 10. While I do like the “boutique” nature of the hotel--quaint furnishings, exceptionally nice staff--the hotel itself was very small. The elevator could hold two people but no luggage. Because I was traveling alone, I did not mind the small room but adding a companion would have made it uncomfortable. And, while I like the night life (I like to boogie), the hotel is situated a few doors down from several of what had to be Paris’ loudest (not necessarily best) clubs. That or the walls were so thin that I could hear the music as if it were coming from my radio! For the money, I would probably not choose this location again as it was a bit pricey to use only as a logistical base.
