Cheap Whale Watching
1 of 1 people found this review helpful
If you want to cross the St. Lawrence and see whales at the same time, try making the traverse on the Les Escoumins to Trois Pistoles run. The boat is small so car and RV vehicles need to make a reservation, but cyclists and passengers are just about guaranteed a spot. I knew something was up, when I saw two passengers board carrying large telescopic binoculars mounted on full-sized tripods. Sure enough the whales were out and about. First, we saw the larger fin whales, but they steered well away from the ship. But then as we approached the south shore and Trois Pistoles, the little white belugas appeared and they were not afraid to swim close to the ship.
