The first thing you will notice about the Archaeological Museum is the building in which it is housed- I belive it's neoclassical and it's certainly very splendid.
I love the Greek...

In our guidebook, the Planetarium was listed under children's activities, but I don't know why because I love Planetariums! I think that this may still be the largest planetarium in the world with...

The Parthenon is probably the best known and most popular of the Acropolis' monuments and, for this reason, it is always very busy in high season, but I think that it's really worth the wait....

You can't go to Athens without visiting the Acropolis. I know it's the most well know tourist destination in Athens, but in my opinion, it's definitely worth a visit. I'm no architectural expert,...

About twenty years, Psirri apparently became the new place to go, the new 'trendy' area of Athens. Since then, lots of other areas have staked a claim to this title and Psirri has fallen by the wayside and lost a lot of its distinctive character. This is a good place for entertainment as there...

Piaka is the 'old town' of Athens although it's not as pretty and untouched as some of the 'old towns' in other cities. It's extremely touristy with a lot of tacky souvenirs on sale (although I quite like a bit of tat!) and a lot of restaurants promising to give you an 'authentic' taste of...

Kolanki is the hip and happening (sorry for the cliche!) area of Athens where anyone who is anyone hangs out. Personally, I'm not really into the who;e being cool and trendy thing and this is area is full of posers who spend the day in the posh cafes and restaurants or shopping in the designer...

My trip to Athens was great, but it also had unpleasant things. I loved visiting the ancient ruins. The Acropolis and the Agora are a real must for everyone and what I also recommend is trying out the traditional greek food somewhere outside the central area, where prices are just exaggerated....

A great thing to visit while in Athens is the Koutouki Cave. The cave can be found a bit far from the city, close to the airport. It was found in the village Paiania in 1926. This cave is enormous. They said it has about 4000 square meters and the greatest thing about it is that it’s 40m deep....
