You can see Hiroshima from the island of Miyajima – one of the most beautiful places in Japan. One perceives its beauty at once when crossing from mainland Japan in a ferry boat. You may be received by lots of deer - believed to transmit messages from the gods.

My visit to the Itsukushima Shrine was unforgettable – one of the most beautiful Shinto temples I ever saw. When the tide is low you can walk closer to the big Otorii – the inspiring gate to the shrine.

The island is full of traditional shops and restaurants – where little tables stay almost at floor level. You have to knee in order to eat – all in tatami typical Japanese floors.
