Kava Ceremonies
Fijian people are crazy about Kava! Kava is basically powdered pepper roots and if you have enough it makes you feel relaxed and calm, stoned I guess. Kava ceremonies are a daily routine for Fijian people (which could explain why everyone runs on 'Fijian time!' which basically means whenever thy want!) At a ceremony the Kava is put in a cloth which is used as a strainer for when it’s added to water. Before each person drinks the Kava some words of thanks are given and everyone claps three times, the cup is passed to the next person.
