Sa Dec flower village in Dong Thap 4 stars
The best time to visit this village is about one month before Tet festival in Vietnam. The locals earn their money mostly based on selling flowers at this festival and they do take very good care of these flowers, and the local life in this small village seems to go by faster when flowers are blooming. Coming to Sa Dec, you may have a chance to see locals loading flowers on trucks, wheelbarrows or boats to transfer them to big markets in Can Tho or Sai Gon. However, you should avoid going to Sa Dec a few day before or after Tet festival, there will be nothing for you to see, all flowers would be sold out by then and the village will be absolutely quiet because most of the local people will be on their way to Saigon and stay there for a few days to sell their home-grown flowers for Tet holidays.

Exploring different gardens in Dong Thap 5 stars
Walking through gardens was my lovely activity, when I stayed in Dong Thap. I could visit all gardens in the neighborhood just in one day. In my village, houses and gardens are not at the same place, locals build their houses side by side but their gardens are located at somewhere not so far from the houses. Most of the gardens don’t have clearly bounds or gates and are parted from another by a canal or a tree. Therefore, I could easily walk through all the gardens. By the way, people were very friendly in stead of getting angry when they saw me in their gardens without asking, my neighbors always smiled at me and gave me fruits from their gardens. So when you want to visit local gardens or want some fruits, don’t hesitate, just go and ask the locals, if you are stranger there.

Dong Thap at night 2 stars
Planning on a trip to Dong Thap City? Then be prepared that you will not have the chance to do anything else after 20:00. Everything will be closed by then. There are of course still some coffee shops and restaurants open, but there is nothing very special about these places at all. Anyway, there is no discotheque, no night activities. The light is out, locals stay at home after 8 PM, even young people have their own things to take care of. So there are pretty much nothing interesting to do in the evening in Dong Thap. Not only in Dong Thap but also in some other small cities in Mekong Delta, you can find it hard to go out at night.

Dong Thap Muoi 5 stars
Dong Thap Muoi, also known as the Plain of Reeds, is awaiting tourists to explore all the charms of such an ecotourism destination hidden in the woods and water covering this Mekong Delta region. To discover this region, I suggest a boat tour for a journey through the winding canals, the capajut forest and Vam Co Tay River to Dong Thap Muoi Center. Coming to Dong Thap Muoi, you can find lotus blossoms everywhere and local people there can actually use every part from a lotus like blossoms for fine and delux decoration, lotus body for making lotus salat, grains for cooking sweetened porridge, its pistil for tea, its bulb for cooking different kinds of soup and even its leave used in cooking a special kind of rice. So try it out, you might love to have some lotus in your front yard.
