Insider advice for your Potsdam vacation

Potsdam 4 stars
Potsdam is a wonderful town very close to the German capital Berlin, probably the best choice for a day-trip from the capital. Here is the place where the main palaces of the Prussian kings and later German emperors are situated. The city itself is also a very nice place having some wonderful old streets, nice old town hall, beautiful University building and an unusual town church. This is the city where the famous Potsdam conference was held (in the palace Cecilienhof in 1945, where the future of Germany was decided.

Cycling Tour 3 stars
When in Berlin, everyone should take a break from the big city and visit Potsdam and if you fancy something different and healthy, take the cycling tour. Catch the S-Bahn to Wansee and then hire a bike from outside the station. They’ll supply you with a map to make your way around the lake to Potsdam. It is a beautiful ride through woodland and along lakeside scenery. Stop off at the House of the Wansee Conference on the way where the Nazis decided on the "Final Solution" for the "Jewish Problem." It’s quite horrific how such a beautiful building in such an idyllic setting, could be the location for such an abhorrent moment in history. Potsdam is very beautiful, and the main park there is the big attraction with its landscaped gardens.

Potsdam is one of the nicest cities I have visited in Germany, some of the places worth visiting while in Potsdam are the Schloss Sanssouci, The New Garden and the Marble Palace. The Marble Palace is a small palace on the side of the river, its name comes from the material the palace was made from, the palace really is a lot smaller than all the palaces I have visited in Germany, but it is beautiful and should be visited while traveling through Germany. Another very nice place to visit is the Russian town which is like entering another city, the architecture changes drastically; it is like entering a fairy tale when going there. I really recommend it.

Lovely Postdam 5 stars
When my friends and I left Berlin, we passed through Postdam because we had heard that it was famous for its beauty and uniqueness, but also because one of my friends was born there. He showed us around and told us many things about Postdam. The town had been severly bombed during the second World War, but some old important buildings are still standing. One of them is the Nikolaikirche church, which is totally impressive. Don’t hesitate to enter and see the interior. It’s lovely and definitely worth seeing. We also visited the dutch neighbourhood and the Sanssouci Park.
All in all, Postdam is worth visiting, so don’t hesitate stopping by when you’re visiting Berlin.
